-The Way of Unlimited Technique-
NO LIMITS

The art of Muryo Waza has never been traditionally recorded until now; except, as passed down by Eddie Vuittonet. to his students in the oral tradition of old. It is hoped that Dasifu's (teacher of teachers) art and teachings can be passed on so that others may benefit from the style as a whole and that it will continue to live on as a viable discipline for self defense as well as, a way of life...as it has done for me.

History of Muryo Waza:
The development of the art of Muryo Waza can be traced back to three geographical places, La Sara (Texas), Raymondville (Texas), and Fresno, California.

Ranking System:
The Muryo Waza ranking system uses the kung fu method for disciple proficiency identification.
A sash, opposed to a belt (traditional Karate), is the chief source of "rank" identification; from beginner to priest. Our students are disciples and our teachers are priests.
Proficiency Identification System

Blue sash Yellow sash Orange sash Purple sash
Green sash Brown sash Black sash Red sash

Attire:
The modern day attire of the Muryo Wazan student consists of black BDU pants, a sash, a black gi top, and black combat style boots. The Muryowazans of the early 1970's used Viet-nam era "jungle boots", black "genie" pants, a sash and a white (no sleeve) T-shirt. A radical change occured in the mid 1970's when the "genie" style pants and T-shirt were dropped and substituted for BDU's! The uniform of the disciple has remained the same ever since...the gi remains the same, only the addition and subsequent removal and replacement of a colored sash signifying rank in the system.
The warrior top or "battle top" as it is called in Muryo Waza, is simply a black BDU top with a multitude of patches depicting the various styles incorportated in Muryo Waza, as well as, the various patch awards bestowed upon the disciple. The battle top is worn during ceremonies and battle.

NATURAL PROGRESSION:
As with all things susceptable to the concept of natural progression, the Muryo Wazan must first learn how to listen before he can learn; and as such, in the art, he must learn the history behind what he is learning before he/she can progress. Here is a listing of what a student goes through on his/her progression as a beginner (blue sash).

Blue Sash: (beginner)

As a blue sash in Muryo Waza, the student is taught the precepts/concepts and history of Muryo Waza. This is done so that the beginning student will align with the correct mindset and appropriate temperment. Proper mindset and attitude facilitates learning, introspection and the transition into the way of ulimited techniques. The precepts/concepts taught are the Muryo Waza Heart, Muryo Waza Code, Ettiquet of Combat, Combat Philosophy, and The 12 Virtues of the Muryo Wazan.
These principles form the core of the student's base/root in the system and are reflections on the art as a whole as seen through the eyes of Grand Master - Dasifu Vuittonet, his black sash priests and disciples:

The Muryo Waza Heart
The courage of the lion,
the power of the ram,
the leopard's deadly cunning
make me what I am.

A dragon's infinite wisdom,
the lightning speed of a serpent,
the strength of the mighty bear,
spares me from ill temperment.

The coldheart of the mantis,
the ferocious tiger's heart,
the destructive spirit of the wolverine,
tears my enemies apart.

The agility of a mongoose,
the stamina of a mare,
a scorpion's innate intimidation
strikes fear in those who dare.

A crane's virtuous grace,
a rooster's prideful stance,
an eagle's freedom to live,
gives me half a chance.

VIRTUES OF THE MURYO WAZAN
Power
power comes in many shapes and forms, the greatest of which is power over one's own life. First, one must have power over oneself, then over one's actions. As a result, power and control of one's life will follow.

Patience
Patience is a virtue unbeknownst to many of mankind. By learning patience, not just tolerance, one may lead a long, happy life. Patience is the virtue of the teacher.

Intimidation
In combat, any edge over your opponent helps. Through physical appearance, one may be more or less intimidating. Through intimidation, one can beat the opponent mentally, making victory in combat easier to come by and as a result one's confidence will increase, thus making worries diminish by the day.

Decisiveness
Energy is depleted rapidly, as it changes form so quickly. It is pointless to waste motion, and, therefore, decisiveness is a must. Every strike and grab should have a purpose, just as every decision in life should be thought through.

Endurance
In life, one must endure or die. By enduring, and just "sticking it out," one may see the fruits of one's efforts. Endurance in life simply makes everything seem worthwhile.

Speed

It is not speed, but efficiency. Everything should be done as soon as possible, leaving nothing to be done "tomorrow." Tomorrow may never arrive.

Strength
Internal strength is necessary to make it through life's difficult times. The turmoil and tribulation can be very taxing on a person, and so people must be strong. They must be strong enough to make decisions, and stick by them; they should be strong enough to handle any situation they should come across.

Pride
While some people think that "pride goeth before the fall," it is pride that makes people put forth effort. Without pride, people wouldn't do their jobs, and would put no effort in making their appearance at least bearable to behold. It is pride that truly keeps us going, and destroys that longing to give up.

Ferocity
Although this is thought of to be harmful, sometimes what one needs is a little "killer instinct" to come out on top. Aggressive behavior is the result and the cause of competition, but is sometimes necessary.

Freedom
Freedom to make choices in one's life is vital. Without this freedom, one's life is meaningless. To be free, one must sometimes fight for one's freedom. To do so, however, takes courage.

Courage
Without courage, every other virtue is meaningless. Courage gives us the strength to stand up for what we believe, no matter what the cost may be. Sometimes, we must fight for our freedom; other times, we must fight for someone else. In any case, we need courage.

Wisdom
The final virtue of wisdom comes not with age, but experience. However, experience is nothing when one cannot learn the lessons life has to teach us. While all of the virtues have fabulous qualities, wisdom is the only virtue that helps one to use these virtues; it teaches what, how, when, where, and why.
